Drabble: Yard Sale

Just a drabble inspired by Black Tuesday, Hughsday and I guess the Olympics. This is what happens when I brood and don't turn on the radio on the way to work.

Despite all evidence to the contrary – the failure of his marriages, the disappearance of his brother, the inevitable demise of too many of his patients – Wilson believes in happily ever after. It would have been laughable if it weren't so fucking depressing.

Witnessing one of Wilson’s relationships is like watching competitive ski jumping – headlong, exhilarating, and full of promise. But one error in judgment and it's a yard sale. House doesn’t enjoy seeing his friend suffer, but he finds it hard to look away. Everybody flinches at the ski jumper’s fall on ABC’s Wide World of Sports, but everybody watches.

Nice drabble and so true. Falls always seem to provide more compelling viewing.

I noticed that you made a couple of claims at hw_fest. Can't wait to read the results!

Spectacular catches and spectacular crashes always make the highlight reel!

Thank god we have until May for the fest. I couldn't resist the games prompt - in my mind House and Wilson play Risk the way one of my good friends from high school and I did. Ducklings beware...

Oh, yeah.
And that it's House's thinking.

May I friend?

I'd be honoured. May I friend you back? I haven't quite figured out the etiquette on friending :)

I would just have friended, but I wasn't sure whether you maybe had another journal for friending or whatnot.
I'm not sure what the etiquette is. A lot of people have "friend, but don't expect friending back" policies, which is mine.
I friend journals that I think will help me keep up a fic habit without having to friend communities. And then other journals with good or funny dicussion. And people who comment on my posts a bit get checked out and possibly friended.

It did take me about six months to discover my friends list and work out how to use it.

No other journal (except the one I started as a work joke, and then changed the joke). I really only use this one for posting stories to link to communities, mostly because I don't trust myself to do an lj-cut correctly the first time. I keep meaning to use it as more of a journal, so maybe that will be a summer project.
